Trauma Informed Bodywork
We are healthiest and happiest, when our nervous system moves naturally from activation to relaxation, when we can easily bounce back from stress to restful states. But sometimes things are happening too fast, too sudden or without the possibility of escape. That’s when our nervous system can get stuck in frantic overdrive or frozen inactivity.
Trauma is experienced in the nervous system and stored in the body. Most people have experienced some form of trauma through surgery, motor vehicle accidents, falls etc. When such events are unresolved and stored in the nervous system, we can get stuck in limiting patterns, develop chronic pain and loose access to our strength, resilience and joy.
Somatic Experiencing® is an integrative modality that relieves symptoms of trauma, and experiences of chronic stress and anxiety, through working with the autonomic nervous system. It draws from stress physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics research and practices.
Alexander Technique and Somatic Experiencing® are mutually supportive practices, that can help us access and enrich the well-coordinated, well-aligned, and well-balanced person we aim to be.
Michaela became a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in 2017. As a trauma informed Alexander Technique teacher she will help you release symptoms of trauma, anxiety and stress and establish new patterns of postural organization, strength and mobility.
